Kaitannya Simple Past Tense dan Recount Teks

• Pengertian Simple Past Tense

Jika diartikan secara harfiah, Simple adalah sederhana, sedangkan past adalah lampau atau lalu. Jadi, Simple past tense adalah suatu bentuk tenses sederhana (simple) yang menunjukkan suatu kejadian yang terjadi di masa lalu atau lampau.

Penggunaan simple past tense biasanya terdapat pada narrative text, percakapan yang menunjukkan kejadian masa lalu, serta artikel yang berkaitan dengan masa lalu.

Waktu kejadian yang biasa digunakan pada Simple past tense :

-yesterday=kemarin

-last …= ….kemarin, contohnya last year= tahun kemarin

• Rumus Simple Past Tense

Cara mudah mengingat rumus simple past tense:

Ada past tense= ada verb 2 (Bentuk kata kerja lampau)

Untuk regular verb bare infinitive (bentuk dasar verb) ditambah -ed, -en, -d, -t, -n, atau -ne,

Eg/:

work-worked

Send-sent

Untuk irregular verb, bare infinitive (bentuk dasar verb) berubah menjadi bentuk lampau sesuai dengan tabel irregular verb.

Tips mudah diatas berlaku untuk kalimat positif. Jika bentuk negative ataupun kalimat tanya menggunakan did + bare infinitive(kata kerja dasar/pertama).

		Was I so lazy in the last summer? Simple Past Tense dan Kata Keterangan Waktu Setiap tenses bahasa Inggris biasanya memiliki kata keterangan waktu sendiri-sendiri. Untuk Past Simple Tense ini, kata keterangan waktu yang biasanya digunakan adalah: yesterday, ago, this morning/evening, last night/week/month/year, a week ago, that day/afternoon, the other day/week, at seven o’clock, on Tuesday, in 1990, just, recently, once, earlier, then, next, after that. The Example of Recount Text

Terrible Day

Last Sunday was a terrible day. My cousins and I were playing football in front of a house together to spent our time.

First, it was really fun untill I kick the ball too strong, so the ball leaded into a window and I broke the window. When we want to run away, suddenly we all heard a loud voice. After that, the owner of the house came from the fence of the house, he was shouted on us. We were very afraid, but we don't know what to do. Then, one of my cousins told us to ran, and suddenly we heard a bark sound. Then we knew, that the owner of the house let his dog to chase us. And we were struggling to ran fast as we can. But, i fell down so the dog managed to catch me and bite my leg. It was really painful. Then the dog ran back to the house. My cousins took me to the doctor and told my parents.

Finnaly the doctor said that i was exposed to rabies. Then i was hospitalized for one more week.



Camping

Last weekend, my friends and I went camping.

We reached the camping ground after we walked for about one and a half hour from the parking lot. We built the camp next to a small river. It was getting darker and colder, so we built a fire camp. The next day, we spent our time observing plantation and insects while the girls were preparing meals. In the afternoon we went to the river and caught some fish for supper. At night, we held a fire camp night. We sang, danced, read poetry, played magic tricks, and even some of us performed a standing comedy.

On Monday, we packed our bags and got ready to go home. I'm very happy for last weekend.

Berkemah

Akhir pekan lalu, teman-teman saya dan saya pergi berkemah.

Kami mencapai area camping setelah kami berjalan selama sekitar satu setengah jam dari tempat parkir. Kami membangun tenda di sebelah sungai kecil. Itu dikarenakan hari semakin gelap dan dingin, jadi kami membuat  api unggun.Keesokan harinya, kami menghabiskan waktu untuk mengamati tanaman dan serangga, sementara teman perempuan lainnya yang menyiapkan makanan. Di sore hari kami pergi ke sungai dan menangkap beberapa ikan untuk makan malam. Pada malam hari, kami mengadakan pesta api unggun. Kami bernyanyi, menari, membaca puisi, bermain trik sulap, dan bahkan beberapa dari kita melakukan komedi bersenda gurau.

Pada hari Senin, kami mengemasi barang-braang kami dan bersiap-siap untuk pulang.

 My Holiday

Last week I went to Bromo Mount. I stayed at my friend's house in Probolinggo, East Java. The house has a big garden with colorful flowers and a small pool.

In the morning, my friend and I saw Mount Batok. The scenery was very beautiful. We rode on horseback. It was scary, but it was fun. Then, we went to get a closer look at the mountain. We took pictures of the beautiful scanery there. After that, we took a rest and had lunch under a big tree. Before we got home, we went to the zoo at Wonokromo. We went home in the afternoon.
We were very tired. However, I think it was really fun to have a holiday like this. I hope my next holiday will be more interesting.

Contoh 1: Vacation to Indrayanti Beach

Last weekend, after visiting my parent at Wonosari Gunungkidul, I and my family went to Indrayanti Beach to spend our holiday by our own car.

The way to get Indrayanti Beach is very zigzag and it’s very quiet in the middle of night. We almost got lost since we never go there before, but eventually we got there safely. We hardly got a room to stay overnight because it was long weekend so that we could not find a room easily.

We got up so early in the morning that we could enjoy sunrise landscape at the beach. My son was playing white sand with his sister while I took their picture.

A day at Indrayanti beach felt so short, we were quite tired for playing a whole day, but we were very happy.

Penjelasan:

• Paragraf pertama: Orientation, pada bagian ini penulis mencoba mengenalkan pelaku, tempat dan waktu peristiwanya.
• Paragraf kedua dan ketiga: Events, dua paragraf ini berisi event atau urutan kejadian dalam peristiwa perjalanan dan kegiatan pelaku (we) di pantai Indrayanti.
• Paragraf keempat: Reorientation, penulis mengakhiri cerita tentang perjalanan pelaku dengan membuat kesimpulan bahwa sekalipun pelaku lelah, tapi mereka merasa senang.

Pengertian Recount Text 

Recount text adalah sebuah teks dalam bahasa Inggris yang menceritakan pengalaman di masa lalu atau masa lampau yang berisikan suatu peristiwa, aktivitas, dan hal menarik lainnya.

Tujuan Recount text

Tujuan komunikatif dari recount text adalah untuk menceritakan pengalaman atau kejadian dan peristiwa yang terjadi pada masa lalu secara kronologis atau secara berurutan dengan tujuan untuk entertain atau menghibur pembaca atau pendengar. Dalam bahasa Inggris, tujuan recount text:

The purpose of a recount is to list and describe past experiences by retelling events in the order in which they happened (chronological order). Recounts are written to retell events with the purpose of either informing or entertaining their audience (or both)

Generic Structure Recount Text

1. Orientation
   Pada bagian ini, penulis memulai cerita dengan mengenalkan latar belakang informasi yang menjawab, kapan, di mana kejadian atau peristiwa itu terjadi pada masa lampau.
2. Events
   Setelah menceritakan latar belakang atau identitas pelaku, setting tempat dan waktunya, pada bagian ini barulah penulis mulai menceritakan jalannya cerita secara urut atau kronologis.
3. Reorientation
   Generic structure dari recount text yang terakhir adalah reorientation, banyak yang menjelaskan bagian ini dengan rangkuman yang berisi pengulangan bagian orientation. Tapi bagi saya, bagian ini sebenarnya adalah bagian conclusion (kesimpulan) atau penutup yang mengekspresikan pendapat pribadi penulis tentang kejadian yang telah diceritakan. Misalnya cerita tentang liburan, maka penulis akan menyimpulkan kesan tentang liburannya dengan “what an exciting holiday! I will go there again someday“.

Ciri Kebahasaan Recount Text

Terdapat beberapa ciri-ciri kebahasaan yang mungkin akan teman-teman temukan ketika membaca sebuah Recount Text. Ciri-ciri kebahasaan dari Recount Text tersebut adalah:

• 1. Menggunakan Past Tense. Misalkan we went to zoo, I was happy, etc.
• 2. Menggunakan Conjunction dan Time Connectives untuk mengurutkan peristiwa atau kejadian. Misalnyaand, but, the, aftar that, etc.
• 3. Menggunakan Adverbs dan Adverbial Phrase untuk mengungkapkan tempat, waktu dan cara. Misalkanyesterday, at my house, slowly, etc.
• 4. Menggunakan Action Verbs. Misalkan went, slept, run, brought, etc
